Summary of the technology
Sowing device
CSIC, through INIA-CSIC, has developed a manual device for sowing seeds in the laboratory for application in researches related to plant varieties. The device allows optimization of the sowing process, facilitating the homogeneous development of the crop and allowing the results obtained to meet with the objectives defined in the research.
Companies from the agricultural sector interested in the development, manufacture and commercial exploitation of the device are sought.

Easy and homogeneus manual sowing of seeds
Side view of the devices’s circular tray and seed dispenser The seed sowing device is equipped with a circular tray adaptable to a pot on which it rests and that is provided with perforating cylinders responsible for making holes in the pot's soil, together with a seed dispenser bound to the tray, which is intended to house the seeds and expel them into the soil in the pot by means of the vertical movement of mobile rods with cylindrical seed collectors, heads with seed dispensers and a spring and push-button system which enables the introduction of a seed by each cylinder in each sowing operation.
Main innovations and advantages
- Easy and convenient use by any person, not being necessary to use it in laboratory conditions, which has a positive effect on the germination and homogeneous development of the crop.
- The device favors a uniform distribution of the seeds which facilitates the sowing and allowing that the results obtained meet the objectives defined in the research.
- The device allows the sowing of seeds of different sizes, unlike previous systems, using different degrees of distribution of seeds on the soil
