For this reason, Barcelona Skin Genomic (BSG) is developing a database that compiles information about the effects of different natural active compounds or plant extracts (more than 2500) on gene expression, on the levels of expression of interleukins and other molecules (more than 3400) and on treatment of different diseases (677). This dabatase collects information from more than 5000 scientific articles, integrated by biologists and experts in life sciences and is updated on a monthly basis. BSG has also developed a software that helps search the database for optimal combinations of natural active compounds or plant extracts for a given purpose. In addition, BSG provides the customer with papers and evidences demonstrating the effects of selective compounds on parameters of interest. Based on analytical data provided by the customer, BSG can provide counseling on compounds with optimal properties for the treatment of a number of diseases

The software designed by BSG uses an algorithm that allows the identification of natural active compounds with optimal efficiency on the regulation of specific disease parameters.
