- It is not requirement the use of toxic flammable solvents to ensure the safety of personnel conducting the test.
- The use of appropriate materials, allowed to simplify and shorten the work, to improve the reproducibility of detection and reduce the cost of detection procedure.
- To achieve sensitive detection method allows subjecting the examination of much smaller volumes of liquid samples in comparison with that provided by the USEPA protocols (United States Environmental Protection Agency).
Description of the technology
A Technology University from south of Poland developed a new way of detection Cryptosporidium and Giardia protozoa in water samples. The method could be applied in e.g. water treatment plants, unit responsible for monitoring water resistant environmental hazards of microbial origin. University is looking for industrial partners (SME) interested in commercialization.

Development of a rapid, sensitive and reliable detection methods for Cryptosporidium sp. and Giardia intestinalis. in environmental samples is a necessity resulting from the spread of these parasites. University located in southern Poland invented new method of detection Cryptosporidium and Giardia. The solution is detection of the genetic material of parasitic cysts/oocysts Cryptosporidium and/or Giardia in environmental samples: surface water, raw water and treated water, also in urban waste water treatment and municipal wastewater-economic. The method could be applied in e.g. water treatment plants, unit responsible for monitoring water resistant environmental hazards microbial origin.
