Our innovative software leads to a revolutionary breakthrough of non-invasive tumor ablations by enabling customized microbubble targeting ultrasonic therapies for deep-seated tumors in clinical setting, which works as a Virtual Lab for biomedical researchers, tumor Treatment Planning Software for therapist, and a design tool for HIFU manufactures to improve efficacy and safety of HIFU devices.
Focused Ultrasound (FUS), especially when combined with Microbubbles (MB), offers non-invasive options for treating deep-seated tumors by enabling targeted surgical ablation and/or local blood-brain-barrier opening (BBBO) for effective drug delivery. However, clinical translation faces significant challenges due to complex and intertwisted dependencies among various FUS and MB-related parameters, coupled with sensitivity to patient-specific conditions. There is an unmet need for a Numerical Platform which can work as a Virtual Lab for clinical trial planning and Treatment Planning System for patient-specific therapy optimization in clinics.
During NIH SBIR sponsorship, 3DynaFS-Hifu© has been demonstrated to be capable of predicting the outcome of microbubble-enhanced HIFU treatment in clinically relevant environments, including validation against both in vitro and ex vivo experiments to proof the microbubble-enhanced HIFU concept and validate the numerical models and simulations. 3DynaFS-Hifu© is the 1st and only numerical platform which accurately models both FUS through bio-media, MBs and the bidirectional interactions between them, and has been validated both in vitro and ex vivo.
Our marketing strategy will be to pursue a strategic partnership with HIFU equipment manufacturers who are working on the development of HIFU and monitoring methods for new or established therapies. Initial contacts with those in the HIFU equipment industry have been promising and lead us to believe that there would be sufficient interest and market for this project to be successful. Our goal is to license the new software tool to 2 industry customers and 5 research labs in the first year of commercialization and then to increase the number of seats by attracting 10% more new customers each year. We estimate that the total market size for the software is approximately 1000 seats. We project to capture 18% of the software seats 10 years after the start of commercialization. There will be additional revenue streams from software customization and software training. In addition, consulting work based on the developed software could be a significant revenue stream in the form of consulting contracts.
