At P&G we recently announced our ambition to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions across our supply chain and operations by 2040, from raw material to retailer, including clear interim targets for 2030. While we are making progress, the climate emergency calls for bolder and faster actions to decarbonize laundry across the entire value chain.
This brief focuses on sustainable packaging solutions.
Packaging plays an essential role in delivering products to our consumers. Product protection, consumer safety, ease of use, and communication of safety and use information to consumers are just some of the critical functions packaging delivers. As we work to ensure our packaging delivers against key performance criteria, we also seek to drive greater circularity of our packaging at end of life and are working towards 100% recyclable or reusable packaging. The new more sustainable packaging innovations cannot have consumer in-use trade-off’s relative to current packaging while having clear line of sight on longer term financial viability.
Relevant Areas/Spaces may include (but not restricted to):
• Lighter plastic packaging.
• New (non-plastic, but recyclable) materials.
• Recycled plastic options.
• Moisture barrier for paper packaging that can be used for detergents and be recyclable
• Reuse systems that can help us minimize plastic
• E-comm friendly packing solutions that delights consumers for laundry while improving carbon footprint.
• Innovative laundry liquid dosing solutions that delights consumers by reducing effort on job to be done.
