The ALLIANCE partners are giving the opportunity to large and small companies, research centres, universities, and even individuals with innovative lightweighting technologies, to submit their ideas, co-develop them with the OEMs, suppliers, and knowledge partners of ALLIANCE, and shape the vehicles of tomorrow.
Do you have a specific idea or concept (material or manufacturing) on how to achieve lightweighting in vehicles? Does your technology show potential to reduce the GWP impact in a life-cycle perspective? Is it affordable? Can it be implemented in high-volume vehicle production?
Win the opportunity to co-develop your innovations with six leading automotive OEMs (Daimler, Opel, Toyota, Volvo, Volkswagen, CRF - the Research Centre of FCA) and four suppliers (ThyssenKrupp, Novelis, Batz, Benteler). The winning technologies will be implemented on existing vehicle parts and presented at a dedicated side event of the Aachen Body Engineering Days 2018!
The ALLIANCE project is co-funded by the European Commission’s H2020 programme.
The technologies you present to us will undergo a predefined application procedure.

Evaluation criteria will include:
Ability to sum up the project’s contribution to the objectives of the call in some 100 words in terms that would arouse interest in a potential investor or implementer of the idea.
Contribute to (i) reduce the weight of vehicles by 25%, (ii) decrease energy consumption by 10%, (iii) Global Warming Potential by 6%.
Assessed as the potential of (i) the extent to which the proposed idea can be applied in a vehicle, (ii) and the potential of the proposed idea to be sustained.
ALLIANCE (Affordable Lightweight Automobiles Alliance) is a European collaborative project bringing together 6 OEMs (Daimler, Volkswagen, CRF- the Research Center of FCA, Volvo, Opel and Toyota), 4 suppliers (Thyssenkrupp, Novelis, Batz, Benteler) and 8 knowledge partners (Swerea, Inspire, Fraunhofer LBF, RWTH-IKA, KIT-IPEK, University of Florence, Bax & Company, Ricardo) under the common goal of reducing vehicle weight by developing new materials and manufacturing technologies, as well as optimising part design.
