Procedure for carrying out the postoperative follow-up of patients with colorectal cancer through the assessment in serum or human plasma of the soluble glicoprotein cd26The invention constitutes a new procedure for performing postoperative follow-up of patients with colorectal cancer by the evaluation of scd26 in preoperative and postoperative serum or plasma samples. The values of scd26 are compared with a pre-established cut-off point and with the levels obtained in the previous controls. The profile of scd26 during the follow-up allows to determine the tumor's status and to detect in advance the presence of a tumor recurrence. This procedure consists of a quick and inexpensive technique that can easily be incorporated into oncological reviews.Universidad de Alcalá-OTRI posted this:

Procedure for obtaining a renewable resource of metals from acid minewater, and the respective systemsIs known in the state of the art the recovery of metals from the acid aqueous solution that contain them, generally by liquid-liquid extractions. For metals recovery at industrial scale is necessary that these metals can be recovered simultaneously by means of a single extraction step. There are several extraction reagent for this purpose, all these reagent are very expensive and the industrial process for the metal recovery (particularly for rare earth and yttrium) are very complex and finally expensive. The present procedure allows to recovery selectively metals (particularly rare earths and yttrium) by the neutralization of acid mine waters. The objective is to revalue the metal content dissolved in this waters.Universidad de Alcalá-OTRI posted this:
Procedure for obtaining peptides with antioxidant and antihypertensive properties from olive seeds.A research group from the Analytical Chemistry Department at Alcalá University has developed a procedure from which it is possible to obtain peptides with antihypertensive and antioxidant capacity of isolated proteins from olive seed by enzymatic digestion. The method consists of the protein extraction from the olive seeds using a previously developed process, and digest the extracted proteins with Thermolysin enzyme, allowing to obtain peptides with antihypertensive capacity in vitro, or with Alcalase enzyme leading to obtain a peptide extract with antioxidant properties. The group seeks to establish commercial , licensing or collaboration agreements with companies of the food and pharmaceutical sectors interested in both the use strategy of this waste material (olive pits), as in the use of the found bioactive peptides.University of Vigo posted this:
Procedure for sea urchin embryo cryopreservation and attached bioassayThis sea urchin (Paracentrotus lividus) embryo cryopreservation procedure with attached bioassay has been specifically designed for sea urchin blastula (8 hour development embryo) conservation in liquid nitrogen to be used as out of reproductive season biological supply. This protocol has applications in research, aquaculture and ecotoxicology. The process described is fully developed, from how to obtain blastula embryos from sea urchins, composition and concentration used of the cryoprotecting agent, cryopreservation procedure including the cryoprotecting agent addition and dilution methodology, the seeding temperature during freezing and including a post-thawing viability study The possibility of a sea urchin embryo biobank ensures not only the access to test organism embryos all year round but also access to these embryos in places where it was not possible before either for their distance to the ocean or for the lack of the necessary facilities to maintain reproductive adults in optimum conditions to breed. The development of the bioassay using cryopreserved sea urchin embryos will help overcome the seasonal constraints in application of bioassays to assess marine water quality.UNIVERSIDAD DE BURGOS posted this:

Procedure for the extraction of biosurfactants contained in corn steep liquorsNowadays, most of the pharmaceutical and cosmetic products in the market contain chemically synthesized surfactants in its composition. In many cases, these surfactants are the same as those used in regular cleanup activities. In order to get more natural and biocompatible products, it would be interesting to include natural surfactants instead of chemical surfactants in the preparation of these pharmaceutical and cosmetic products. These biosurfactants are also present in the formulation of greener nanoparticles, replacing the chemical surfactants currently used in the preparation thereof. Most biosurfactants have antimicrobial activity, which would improve the properties of certain nanoparticles, as well as many pharmaceutical and cosmetic products. The main disadvantage of biosurfactants industrial production is related to the high cost compared to chemically synthesized surfactant production. The solution proposed by the Chemical Engineering research group at the University of Vigo, is the development of eco-friendly simple extraction of biosurfactant from a corn wet-milling industry byproduct, such as corn wash liquors, better known as "corn steep liquor (CSL)", which could compete in terms of cost production with its chemical counterparts.CINBIO posted this:

Procedure for the preparation of polysubstituted pyrrolidines as inhibitors of the hepatitis C virusThe research group has developed a highly enantioselective process catalysed by small amounts of a chiral complex formed by a silver(I) salt and a chiral phosphoramidite. This method allows the preparation of enantioenriched polysubstituted proline derivatives after a three-step sequence. These prolines are widely used for multiple purposes, but the most important activity is based on the high efficiency against the hepatitis C virus. The administration of these drugs in mammalians is beneficial because the risks of the multiple side effects are reduced and the required dose is very small, unlike the mixture of the pharmaceuticals employed in the current therapy. This research group asks for companies ready to acquire this methodology for a future exploitation. Innovation features: At this moment, this methodology is the unique dealing with the production of these antiviral agents in an highly enantioselective manner. This enantioselective synthesis is very reliable, reproducible and allows to react very bulky starting materials giving high chemical yields. This method is a clear example of the atom economy.Universidad de Alcalá-OTRI posted this:
