New use of cabergoline in breast cancer chemopreventionNew use of cabergoline in breast cancer chemoprevention A CSIC research group have found that Cabergoline exerts an increased latency and decreased breast cancer incidence in a mouse model deficient in Brca1/P53. An only single dose is needed to potentiate post-lactational gland involution and a decreasing of epithelial proliferation, providing less tumor susceptibility in mice. Results suggest Cabergoline could be a strong and safe protective drug for breast cancer prevention. It could be administered after breastfeeding to enhance the protective effect of pregnancy against breast cancer or later, to reduce the risk of post-pregnancy breast cancer in women over 30-35 years old. Pharmaceutical company is sough for further licensing. An offer for Patent LicensingCSIC - Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas posted this:
New use of pasireotide-LAR in breast cancer chemopreventionNew use of pasireotide-LAR in breast cancer chemoprevention A group of CSIC researchers has demonstrated that treatment with Pasireotide-LAR once a month in mice models that develop breast cancer increases latency and decreases the incidence of breast cancer. Reduction of the ductal epithelial area was observed. Results suggest that Pasireotide-LAR could be a valuable drug for breast cancer chemoprevention and potentiate pregnancy's protective effect against breast cancer. Pharmaceutical company is sough for further development and licensing of use. An offer for Patent LicensingBeata Strach posted this:

New wheel slip reset controller for brake systemsThe main motivation for using reset control is the overcoming of fundamental limitations or trade-offs of conventional controllers: with the conventional controllers if we want a fast braking response, the system is fragile and sensitive to uncertainties; and if we want a robust system, this requires slower braking actions. Reset control is a novel technique that achieves more robust and fester braking responses in a way that no other conventional controller is able to produce.Georgetown University posted this:

Next-Generation Lignocellulosic MaterialsSDG implementation dictates the utilization of renewable natural resources. Woody biomass is a useful renewable organic resource. Plant cell wall is mostly made of polysaccarides, cellulose and hemicellulose, and lignin, which are linked together in a highly complex structure and comprise the bulk of trees’ biomass. Despite high potential of lignin, it is mostly discarded or burnt as a byproduct in the pulp and paper industry. Therefore, among the structural biomass compounds only the polysaccharides are used for various applications. The present invention is a novel method of biopolymer isolation including high quality lignin.

Nitroxoline for prevention and treatment of coronavirus diseaseUniversity of Ljubljana has repurposed Nitroxolin for the prevention and treatment of diseases caused by coronaviruses, in particular SARS-CoV-2. A significant advantage of nitroxoline over other candidate drugs for the treatment of covid-19 (repurposing drugs – amantadine, teicoplanin) is that the mechanism of action on the target has been extensively investigated. Our process can additionally generate a variety of compounds with improved antiviral activity.

NO BEAR ALLOWED.This devise prevent to entry of bears in rural area. This devise prevent to entry of bears in rural area. The “No Bears Allowed” prevents bears or other dangerous wild animals from entering one’s home or business. The product is especially ideal for those that live in rural areas where wild animals are nearby. It also helps people to protect their pets when playing or using the bathroom outside. This invention can also be used as a method of security from unwanted intruders. By using a specific range of ultrasonic waves, this device could directly affect the nerve structure of the bear to keep them away from the home without damaging humans or domestic animals. The inventor was inspired to create the idea because of personal experience. “I wanted to design something that would prevent wild animals from entering someone’s home,” said Rahimi. “I feel this product would help to keep people safe, especially those living in rural areas.”

Noble metal-free ceria-based diesel soot combustion catalyst, suitable for gas purification in Diesel engine exhaustsThe developed catalyst does not use Pt, which leads to a cheaper product. The resulting catalyst shows equal or even better performance as Pt catalysts. Following the patented procedure of synthesis, the catalyst produced has a lower particle size. This leads to higher surface per particle and therefore, a better ratio yield when interacting in oxidation reactions, leading to a higher oxygen production rate.Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - UPC posted this:
Non-Intrusive and contact less procedure to test and characterize RF and mmW integrated analogue circuits with DC or low frequency temperature measurements with applications to failure analysisA new procedure that is able to test (go-no go) and to characterize (i.e. to extract high frequency figures of merit, such as central frequency, 1dB compression point) high frequency analogue circuits by using off-chip temperature measurement techniques, such as infra-red camera, reflectometry, interferometry, etc... The technique has applications in the field of design debugging or failure analysis. It allows to test and characterize the individual blocks that constitute a complete system (e.g. low noise amplifier, mixer, power amplifier), even when their electrical outputs are not accessible to the classical instrumentation equipment. Partners to further develop the system and/or to establish commercial agreements along with technical cooperation are sought.Georgetown University posted this:

Non-invasive method for the diagnosis and screening of colorectal cancer and advanced adenomas in asymptomatic individualsThe invention relates to the development of an in vitro method for diagnosing colorectal cancer and advanced adenomas in asymptomatic individuals, by means of a test in a human biofluid, preferably serum. It consists in the joint quantification of sCD26 and NDKA proteins by specific immunoassays, and the percentage of methylation of the NEUROG1 gene by means of real-time PCR specific for methylation. The combination of the three markers by multivariate logistic regression will result in a calculated risk score for colorectal cancer or advanced adenomas, which is compared to an established cut-off point. If the test is positive, a confirmatory colonoscopy is recommended. On the contrary, if the result is negative, it is recommended to repeat the test in one year.- Servei de Gestió de la InnovacióUniversitat Politècnica de Catalunya - UPCServei de Gestió de la Innovació

A small camera is connected to a micro-computer which is programmed to take high-resolution images of the reflections of an individual specimen (e.g. an insect) through a mirror system, showing different angles of view. The imaging device is connected to an entomological trap adapted to direct the intercepted or caught individual towards the entrance of the imaging device. The images are recorded as the individual insect or other small animal traverses the device, after which it escapes unharmed . Barry McGraw posted this:
Non-Phosphorus Soy-Based Scale Inhibitor for Water Treatment Systems (e.g., oils wells)Airable Research Lab, in partnership with LFS Chemistry, has developed a non-phosphorous alternative to its soy-based scale-inhibiting additive. The scale inhibition industry has been historically dominated by phosphorous-based chemistries. Currently, overexploitation of phosphorous—along with a pandemic, geopolitical disputes, trade wars, and escalating fuel prices—has limited access to the element and driven up prices. In addition, phosphorus in our waterways lead to eutrophication, a serious form of water pollution. Airable’s renewable, phosphorous-free solution conserves and preserves our natural resources, with a scale inhibition efficiency of up to 90%.
