Tiffany has a PhD in physics and is a research scientist in soft matter physics. Since 2008 she has explored the physics underpinning the properties of composites formed when colloids are mixed in nematic liquid crystals. In 2012 she co-founded the Edinburgh Complex Fluids Partnership (ECFP) to support industry with solving formulation and manufacturing challenges through applying expertise from the world-renowned Soft Matter and Biological Physics research group, of which she is a member. Between August 2013 and May 2020 ECFP completed 100 projects with 49 companies across 12 sectors. This experience provided Tiffany with excellent insight into the needs of the formulation and manufacturing industries.
DAINtech offers a new route to create stable formulations and composites without using polymers in solution thus offering an opportunity for manufacturing companies to avoid using unsustainable, synthetic polymers in solution.
