Manager of an International Research Department spread over three sites and two countries. Department consisted of ca. 60 researchers and support staff and developed new coatings, processes and applications on both strip and long products within the Tata Steel Group. The Department also built strong links with its Indian equivalent in Tata Steel India

Involved in a diverse range of technical areas, including Corrosion of Stainless Steels, Liquid Metal Embrittlement of materials, and coated product development for Long Products (Rails, Plate, Sections, Tubes and Pipes). Also lead multi-national longer term European funded projects in, for example, Off-Site applied Intumescent Coatings. Lead the R&D Coatings and Corrosion support projects at Scunthorpe and Teesside Works which were responsible for material and coating specifications for equipment and facilities on the sites
