Expert and Team leader at BIOASTER
Dr Sophie Dixneuf joined BIOASTER (Lyon, France) as a senior scientist in 2014. As BIOASTER expert for advanced-optics-based technologies and image analysis, she was involved in the development of fast, label-free, single-cell spectroscopies, imaging and flow-cytometry-based technologies applied to growth-free microbiological diagnostic and bioassays. She has been part of the Bioassays, Microsystems & Optics Engineering Unit since 2018 and valorized the in-house label-free optical technologies to Life Sciences applications such as drug discovery. She was appointed team leader in 2023.
Between 2007 and 2013, Sophie worked in the Laser Spectroscopy Group at the Physics department of University College Cork, Ireland, in the domain of environmental sciences. As a postdoctoral fellow, she developed and implemented high sensitivity and high spatial resolution spectroscopic instruments based on cavity-enhanced absorption spectroscopy, aiming at in-situ multiplex detection of traces of gas playing a key role in the photo-chemistry of the troposphere (i.e. nitrogen oxides, iodine). Sophie was the recipient of an INSPIRE IRCSET/Marie Curie fellowship (2010-2013) and was hosted for 1.5 year at Forschungszentrum Julïch (Germany) where she designed and tested a 20 m long open-path cavity at the reaction chamber SAPHIR.
During 2006-2007, Sophie had a postdoctoral research and lecturing position at University of Angers, France (Physics department). She obtained her PhD in Physics in 2006 (University of Angers, France), specializing in atmospheric spectroscopy and collision-induced Raman spectra by rare gases. Sophie received a Master of Science entitled Matter and Radiation interactions in 2003 (Rennes, France).
