Our global engineering team works to develop new products and processes that can improve people's diets and their lives.
This position resides within the Process Engineering Team of PepsiCo supporting the Beverage businesses. The role requires strong understanding and experience developing and commercializing new products and processes in a team environment with other technical, business and supply chain associates.
Role Accountabilities:
Lead identification, design, development, testing and qualification of process systems in support of new product launches regionally and globally.
Lead process technical assessments and scale-up tests at manufacturing locations, data collection/analysis and timely communication of technical trip reports highlighting results and key next steps.
Effectively manage projects through the technical stage gate process, highlighting risks, impact and mitigation plans to deliver new innovation on time, within budget and in compliance with all design specifications.
Work with and support Food Safety and Quality to ensure all components and process systems are capable of producing and sustaining safe and stable products.
Identify and lead collaboration efforts to improve efficiency, reduce risk and minimize costs in our processes and systems.
Proactively identify skill/capability and system gaps when encountered. Propose corrective actions including coaching, training courses and new/modified processes.
Develop, manage, and communicate project budgets and resource needs.
May mentor junior engineers.
May lead internal and external resources to commercialize new products.
Qualifications/Requirements
B.S. or M.S. in Chemical, Mechanical or Food Engineering (or equivalent).
5+ years (B.S.) or 3+ years (M.S.) experience in process research, design, development and commercialization.
Ability to define and lead projects and direct/motivate project teams.
Demonstrated ability to function effectively in stressful, fast-paced situations, with the personal leadership to influence and positively motivate self and peers.
Liquid and foods process design knowledge.
Knowledge of design engineering, particularly in food science, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, sanitary piping practices and process and instrumentation diagrams.
Experience in a consumer products research and development function a plus.
Background in development and commercialization of new products and/or support of operations strongly desired.
Experience in project management a plus.
Experience with supervising employees a plus.
Travel required (US and International)—estimate 25%.
